Alissa Levy Caiano is an Educator, Media Manager, Editor, Teacher, and general jack-of-all-trades. She graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and Electronic InterMedia, and received her master’s degree shortly thereafter from the Academy of Art University, where she studied Media and Film Production. Alissa has taught workshops, worked as a Substitute Teacher, and freelanced in the film industry for over ten years.

As a young lady, Alissa was a creative, eclectic, and studious spirit. Always interested in other cultures, at the age of 16 she embarked on a nautical journey from Italy to Israel and toured the Middle East, an experience which defined much of her later interests and studies. She flourished as a performing poet in an often restrictive high school environment (the Breakfast Club, Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, and Welcome to the Dollhouse being her favorite references).  As an undergraduate, Alissa traveled to France on a painting fellowship and followed in the figurative footsteps of Cezanne and Matisse through the Marchutz School.  She has continued her artmaking while pursuing her professional endeavors; she is thrilled about a future of mentoring students and allowing for student growth and progression in a supportive and critical environment.

In her travels, Alissa has had endless opportunities to learn and nurture new understandings and ideas. She has lived on both American coasts and now embraces her wonderful home base - Austin, Texas. In her free time she can be found reading, bumming around coffeeshops trying to philosophize, making arts and crafts, (finally!) learning to play the guitar, trying to learn Portuguese, going to the park with her dog, and being a foodie without the snobbishishness.
